What does it cost to host a static website?
The four ways static hosting is priced, where each stops being the cheapest, and how to work out what your own site will cost before you commit to a shape.

Static hosting costs somewhere between nothing and a few thousand rupees a month, and the range is that wide because the question is really four different questions. The number matters less than the shape: what has to happen for the bill to change.
The four price shapes
Free tier. Costs nothing until you cross a line, at which point it either stops working or turns into one of the shapes below. Perfectly rational for a personal site, a portfolio, or docs — see hosting a static site for free for which ones are genuinely free and what each wants in return.
Flat plan. One figure per month for a set of limits — how many sites, how much storage, how many custom domains. The bill does not move when traffic does. You are paying a little for headroom you may not use, in exchange for never being surprised. This is what we do.
Usage-metered. A plan price plus meters: bandwidth, build minutes, function invocations, sometimes seats. Cheap at low volume, and the standard model for build platforms because their costs are genuinely usage-shaped. The trade is that your bill is a function of a number you do not control — the month you get linked from somewhere large is the month you find out what your ceiling is.
Do it yourself. Object storage plus a CDN plus certificate management, or a small VPS. The infrastructure cost is often under a hundred rupees a month for a small site, which makes it the cheapest line item on this page by a distance. It is also the only option where you are the thing that has to be available.
Working out your own number
Four questions settle it:
How much does the site weigh? Add up the build output. Most marketing sites and docs are 5–50 MB; if yours is in gigabytes it is usually video, and video belongs on a video host regardless of what else you decide.
How much traffic, honestly? Take monthly pageviews times average page weight. A 2 MB page at 50,000 views a month is about 100 GB of transfer — enough to matter on a metered plan and to be invisible on a flat one. Most sites are an order of magnitude below what people guess.
How many sites and domains? This is where flat plans separate. One site on one domain is cheap everywhere. Fifteen client sites on fifteen domains is where per-domain and per-site limits start driving the choice, and where an agency usually stops optimising for the monthly figure.
What is an hour of your time worth? The DIY option is the cheapest in rupees and the most expensive in attention. If assembling storage, a CDN and certificate renewal sounds like a pleasant afternoon, it is a good deal. If a certificate expiring on a Sunday would ruin your week, it is not.
Where each shape stops being cheapest
- Free tiers stop when you need a custom domain the host does not include for free, when the meter starts, or when you want support from a person.
- Flat plans stop making sense when you are far under the smallest plan’s limits — a single tiny personal site is cheaper on a free tier, and we will say so.
- Usage pricing stops being cheapest at the moment traffic becomes unpredictable. It is not that it gets expensive; it is that you cannot state next month’s number in advance.
- DIY stops being cheapest the first time it breaks and you are the one fixing it, or the first time you need it to be someone else’s problem.
What it costs here
One9x Pages is a flat plan by design. Free is ₹0 for three sites on a platform subdomain with HTTPS; Starter is ₹199/month and adds one custom domain; Pro is ₹599/month for 25 sites and five domains. Prices are in INR and include GST, so the price is what you pay.
Nothing meters. There is no bandwidth line, no build minutes — we do not build your site, you upload what you built — and no per-seat charge. The limits that exist are counts you can read on the limits page before you pay, and a deploy that would exceed one is refused before it uploads rather than billed as overage.
That shape is not automatically the right one. If your traffic is tiny and stays tiny, a free tier is cheaper than us and we would rather you used it. If you need server-side rendering or functions, you are buying a different product and its pricing is not ours to compare. What a flat plan buys is the ability to answer “what does hosting cost us” with one number, in advance, and have that still be true after a good month.
